AUGMENTED REALITY
Augment means "to add." So Augmented Reality is when a digital element is added into an environment.
For example, you are looking at a movie Poster for Jurassic Park and one of the dinosaurs pops out at you and roars.
Another example: face filters like the ones you see on Instagram and Snapchat, and more recently on Facebook.
VIRTUAL REALITY
Virtual Reality blocks out your present world (with the aid of a headset) and teleports you into a new environment and allows you to interact with it.
For example, you are IN the movie Jurassic Park and riding on a dinosaur.
Access to Virtual Reality requires a headset to participate.
Access to Augmented Reality is as close as your computer or Smartphone.
