ONE MORE TIME
After teaching two workshops this week on the topic of Scam Messages, Scam Pages, and Scam Groups, AND after writing four tutorial posts for this website, someone (who shall remain nameless) sent the above message to one of us via Messenger on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 3pm EST.
Either he fell asleep in our class or he is just an idiot.
Considering he sent it to quite a few others, we are going to say he is just an idiot.
Seriously, dude? You believed that Lucia has "the system connected to your messAnger account" ????
Do you remember us telling you in classes and in our groups and on this website there will always be at least ONE Typo on these hoax/scam messages?
That was the typo MessAnger!
NO ONE HAS "THE SYSTEM" CONNECTED TO YOUR MESSENGER ACCOUNT.
THERE IS 'NO SYSTEM'
ANY MESSAGE OR POST THAT STARTS OUT WITH:
"TELL ALL YOUR CONTACTS"
AND/OR
WRITES DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO FORWARD OR COPY/PASTE THEIR MESSAGE
AND/OR
SAYS FORWARDED AS RECEIVED (somewhere toward the end of the message.)
IT IS A SCAM, Dude! A HOAX, NOT TRUE.
IF ANYONE SENDS MESSAGES LIKE THIS TO ANY OF THE THREE WEBMASTERS OF THIS SITE,
Cally Russell
John George
Maggie King
You will be unfriended and blocked,
AND
your name will be publicized on our Facebook to let others know that you were gullible enough to not only believe it, but also to send the message to us.
IF YOU HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING US
- even for two weeks -
YOU SHOULD KNOW THESE ARE NOT TRUE.
DON'T SEND THEM TO US
DON'T SEND THEM TO ANYONE ELSE
INFORM THE PERSON WHO SENT IT TO YOU THAT THESE ARE NOT TRUE AND TO STOP SENDING THEM
BECAUSE YOU KNOW, AND WE KNOW THAT THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THEY SENT YOU SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
IF THE PERSON KEEPS SENDING YOU THIS STUFF, DELETE THEM AND BLOCK THEM.
AS FOR YOU,
IF YOU KEEP DOING IT -- EVEN THOUGH YOU COMMENTED ON OUR TUTORIALS THAT YOU READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREED WITH THE POSTS ....
Then there is no reason for you to FOLLOW our Site or stay friends with us.
ANALYSIS:
For those of you who can't see or read the picture at the top of this post:
The message claims that the hacker has her system connected to your Facebook messenger account.
It warns that, if one of your friends accepts her, you will also be hacked.
The post is just one more in a long running series of almost identical Facebook hacker hoaxes.
Every so often, somebody adds a new name to an older version of the hoax, and re-posts it on Facebook. Because it has a new name, the message goes viral -- cheap gratification for the one who created it.
Because of the new name, people assume the message is true.
All of these friend request hacker warnings are hoaxes. Every last one of them - all hoaxes.
Get with the program!! Even the most clever hacker cannot take control of your Facebook account just by being added to your Facebook friends list or by sending you a message in Messenger.
Remember what we said about chain letters - DON'T SEND THEM. They spread misinformation.
How is the REAL lady with the name Lucia Hernandez supposed to feel?
Now that you have sent it TO ALL YOUR CONTACTS, you have helped to injure a reputation of EVERYONE who has the same name.
Can you imagine how many Lucia Hernandez there are around the world? No?
Then go to your FACEBOOK, type in the name and see how many you get in results.
I got 497 people named LUCIA HERNANDEZ and that's not even all of them because I stopped counting after 497.
That is how many people with the name LUCIA HERNANDEZ you have hurt.
YOU helped to damage the reputation of all the innocent people named Lucia Hernandez by believing a hoax that common sense tells you cannot possibly be true.
It really is true that common sense isn't so common after all.
