HOW TO BOOKMARK OR SAVE OUR WEBSITE TO FAVORITES

A few of our special Facebook friends are feeling "technically challenged" and wanted to know how to LIKE our Page.

Let's clear up some website jargon first.

PART ONE - LIKES BUTTON

1- The LIKE button is a product used on Facebook.

2 - We aren't on Facebook. We are on Blogger, which is owned by Google. Google doesn't own Facebook.

3 -  So anything we do won't be auto-posted or shared to Facebook. If we want to share something to Facebook, it has to be done manually.

4  - To do that, we put some social media buttons on each post.  Once you use the Facebook share button, you will find yourself doing it all the time. When you click the Facebook icon at the bottom of any of our posts, you will be offered a choice of where on Facebook you want to share it. Pick one on your popup, then click DONE.

  • On your timeline
  • In a message
  • In a group
  • On a friend's timeline

5 - Our websites offer a different way to LIKE us, and it's not like Facebook.   At the end of each post, there are "reaction buttons" which are located just above the comment box.  We would appreciate it if you would choose one so we know what appeals to you and what doesn't.  The reaction buttons are:

  • LIKE
  • POST MORE LIKE THIS
  • I DON'T LIKE THIS
  • I DIDN'T KNOW THAT

6 -Lastly, there is a comment box at the end of each post so you can express your opinions in more detail.  Sign in with your Google account so your name goes on the comment.

PART TWO - FAVORITES

Some visitors wanted to know how to put our websites in their FAVORITES so they can find their way back to us to read each day.

To do that, click the icon that represents BOOKMARK or FAVORITES to save each of our websites.  On Opera, the Bookmark icon is a   "heart" and on Chrome and Internet Explorer, the icon is a "star."

This is OPERA browser. Bookmarks icon on their
MENU located at top LEFT of your browser.  Use this view
to lookup a saved site.  But to SAVE a site to bookmarks,
click the HEART icon onthe URL line at top RIGHT

When you click the icon while you are ON the website, you will get a popup which will prompt you to save to Favorites.

A successfully bookmarked site is when the heart or star is filled in with color as seen in this picture.

You can practice while you are reading here right now.  Go to the top right corner of your browser (this screen) and click on either the HEART or the STAR - the icon for whichever browser you are using, and you will get a prompt asking you where you want to save the bookmark.

Most users save stuff to OTHER BOOKMARKS which is the 'default."   That means if you do nothing after clicking the icon, it will save to that spot no matter what.

Many users keep their daily pit stops or special sites on the BOOKMARK BAR so they can access them quickly.

This is what Favorites Bar looks like on Mozilla Firefox

*****************

To see all of your saved Favorites, tap the 3 dots at top right of your CHROME browser. The menu will appear as seen below in this picture. Select FAVORITES (on Chrome and Internet Explorer). That's when the prompt will ask you if you want to save it to OTHER BOOKMARKS or if you want to make a folder to organize your Favorites. You can make folders at any time, you don't have to do it when you are saving to Favorites.

Click SAVE or DONE and it is saved.

*****************

The next time you want to come back to our websites, go to your Favorites and select our name from the choices. If you can't find it, if it didn't save or you are lost now in these directions (lol) , go to HISTORY.  Any activity you ever did on Facebook or Google will be listed there .  . .  And so will our websites.

We hope this flash tutorial has helped you get organized.  Drop us a note if we missed anything in the directions.
